He was also a very keen cyclist, racing at Eastway Cycle track in London and mountain biking in Epping Forest with Annabel & friends every week.
However, football was his true love and Bruce has been very successful in his football-playing career, winning league and cup honours with many semi professional teams in and around Essex. His ability in football enabled him to represent his country at University level, and to play for Britain on several occasions. Club captain whilst at Gravesend and Northfleet FC, Bruce was loved and respected by his peers.
Further evidence of Bruce’s sporting prowess occurred when he was coaching in the US being crowned table tennis champion of the entire Midwest.
On hanging up his playing boots, Bruce was lucky enough to fulfil his boyhood dream of working in professional football when Luton Town FC appointed him as their 1st team Sports Therapist.
In 2005 his symptoms put paid to all of this.
